This is a good idea! Let us hope that some of the players answer this invitation. The LFA needs to bear some cost for the amatuers. The kids in college. Anyway, I think this is a good start by the LFA. God Bless Lone Star!

I think it would be nice if the LFA can host such a process all around the world (America, Europe, Asia, etc). I'll be willing to help coordinate something like that in the USA because Liberia can start to build their youth and Olympic teams by inviting these kids since financially it will be a burden to travel to Liberia. That way the coach(es) can travel to said locations and evaluate the players. Anyway, just an idea!

This is indeed a good idea-However it is again covered with poor planning and from a logistical standpoint it is a nightmare. It also has a negative implication on the squad that was field in the last couple of games, which I believe is a good squad with a couple of obvious changes. My take stick with this team for the last two games. In the first quarter of the next year set up regional trials sites (Europe, Liberia & US and Asia)

LFA/Lone Star Technical committee contact a survey.
Set up regional trials day/week (example USA regional trials in MN or DC area)
- All player currently residing in the states will report for trials
-Same applies to Player in europe and Asia

So not limit the trials/ recruitment process to the Senior National team. We should also look for U-17/u-21/u-23.
I know several talented Liberia kids that could be the future of Liberia......(see below) he is a perfect candidate for U-21/u/23.

Great idea but need better planning. I agree with Duport Rd. about setting up regional try-out; invitation to Monrovia maybe costly for international players, this may prevent some great talents from this process. Remember, it is the LFA seeking Liberian talents not the other way around. Since the leadership of the LFA is unpredictable let's wait and see.

Those making the regional cut can be invited to Liberia to justify their inclusion. let us keep in mind this process is not intended to replace the current squad..I forsee maybe 7-10 player being invited to Liberia. At this point the coaching staff should be focusing on the last two games and not trying to recruit through this method. If they are looking to inject new players into the system there are couple of guys out there that need to be consider.

Nimely(Manchester City- Reserves),
David Gbimie (Bolton Wanderers 1st Team),
Willis Forko, Bodo Glimt (www.Glimt.no),
Alex Nimo (candidate of U-21 program)
INVITATION TO JUSTIFY/LIBERIAN NATIONAL TEAM EddieKingstonEddie Kingston (5 previous caps-out of favor by the past two coaching staff-Currently staring in the Jamaican permier league. Which i believe is on par with the South African premier league and most of the better African Leagues. Played in Croatia and Asia.
Chris Gbandi-Is a solid replacement from injured captain Murphy Nagbe. He currently plays in the Adecoleague Norway.(first Division)

Ansu Toure- A fun player to watch. I kid you not i have seen this kind live on several occassions. His club Atlanta Silverbacks played tree games against foriegn clubs touring the us he was a marked man. He is a left footer but plays right mid-field.

I agree with you guys, especially Duport Road! This recruitment process needs two phases. Phase I, will be tryouts and evaluation and Phase II will be camp and training. Phase I will be the regional tryouts and there needs to be at least 6 regional tryouts in the USA and maybe 1-2 in Canada. Possible locations/cities are LA; Seattle/Portland; Dallas/Houston; Minneapolis/Chicago; New York/Jersey; Philadelphia/DC Metro; & Atlanta/Charlotte. The Canada tryouts can be held on the east and west coasts respectively because I don’t think there’s anything really between both coasts. J That way, the LFA expenses will be low because Phase I expenditure will include, field(s) rental; scout(s) per diem or stipend; equipments (balls, cones & pennies). For each regional location, you’re looking at about $1-2K depending on the scout(s) expenses and the negotiations. Phase I needs to happen during the early part of summer.

Phase II will be the camp and training where selected players will be invited. This is the expensive phase because LFA should cover it completely, but we all know the no money syndrome. Maybe the LFA can find a sponsor (Adidas, Mittal Steel, etc) for this. Phase II needs to take place during the middle/end of summer and during the winter break. About 2 weeks during the summer and about a week during winter. The camp location can be a university/college campus or an USL team facilities because LFA can’t afford the Brandenton Academy in FL. I think the college campus might be cheaper because most colleges already have soccer camps so having an extra a week of camp is added revenue for them. I’m currently researching the cost for about a 2 week camp at college.

On the hand, keep the current Lone Star squad (except Oliver & Kevin) so we can build for the future. Invite and pursue kids like Willis Forko, David Gbemie, Sandi & Chris Gbandi; Ansu Toure; Alex Nimely & Nimo; Bebe Jones, Abu Donzo, etc, etc.

From the games I’ve seen, Lone Star has no width so Ansu Toure is our answer on the wings or outside midfield. Otto Loewy will be a great center or holding midfielder. I’ve seen the kid play for the past three years in college and he has continuously impressed me. This is his last year and he’s a captain! With all the young talent in the USA, the LFA can put a USA camp together and form a USA base team that can play either PDL, USL, and/or MLS teams. With such a program, the Lone Star will be poise to compete and/or challenge for 2012 ANC & Olympics, future international youth tournaments, and 2014 ANC & WC.

This can be done if the LFA find/solicit a sponsor to fund such a program. The LFA can have the experiment program in the USA and later set up others in Europe, Scandinavia, Asia, and Liberia. This should be a four program at the very least. Anyway, enough talking/writing, take care and God Bless Lone Star!
