Re: liberian soccer is down
The money is there but a bunch of gluttons are handling the financial aspects of the LFA. Secondly, Liberian players are only after the money and not the game. Once they have a couple hundreds/thousands of USDs in their pockets, they show-off. They cannot vie for slots in the big European leagues; instead, they run to Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia to play in low-level leagues there. George Weah could not handle the competition for a first-team jersey at Manchester City and Marseille, he ran to the UAE.
Re: liberian soccer is down
You say what about Weah?..Weah came from Africa and fought for 1st Team Shirt in Europe..He played for Big Clubs and made world Best. The Move to UAE was an Economic decision after he had done all he could in Europe. You can compare or Even say Weah was scared to fight for 1st team shirt when the man was World Best
Re: liberian soccer is down
The real problem is that we have bunch of inconsistent players who are only on the national team because of their names or simply because they play for a foreign team, or because they used to be good at one point of time. Liberians tend to remind themselves of past glory. like, '' normal days used to be good'' or '' i used to have this or that in the past'' or '' i used to be this or that in the past''. Typical Liberian mentality. Another example is that which is printed on the front page of this website "James Debbah, Liberia most celebrated soccer star''. That's an irrelevant material. why not have video or pics of the guys who are currently performing well in the LFA? Anyway, back to the topic: Until we stop the picking and choosing and make players fight for their position on the national team, i really don't see the Lone star progressing in any international competition. Last but not the least, Kevin Sebwe, Oliver Makor, and other old players on the team need to hang their boots. You cant have a guys the same age as the coach playing on a team.
