Was Hey Committed to Liberia?
With the news of the Lonestar coach, Antoine Hey leaving the team and coupled with the devastating loss to Senegal, Liberian Soccer Pundits wonder about Hey’s commitment to Liberia |
Re: Was Hey Committed to Liberia?
Look guys the people at Liberiansoccer should've known the uncommitments and credentrials of Mr.Hey if they had done thier home work about this coach proprely. If a men is being hired for a professional job like that with a lots of money being spent you would want to do a background check of him, his successes and commitments to other teams, and what he brings to the table. I bet none of those things were rightfully investigated. we have spent US:40.000 on this men in four months with nothing to show for it. we are in the same space we were in two years ago and having guys depending on the scores of other team to get us to where we want to go. Now he is leaving the country after every game instead of staying and trying to figure out why we ain't winning. This is what happen when the people we got in charge give an important job away with out doing what needs to be done. These guys are all joke and don't understand what they are doing over there and that is why they refused the right floks the job. I'm not suprise of what Mr. Hey is doing because i never once believed in his abilities to help us. May God bless the Lone Star

Re: Was Hey Committed to Liberia?
In my Oppinion Hey was not commited to lone star, any coach that returns to europe after every game, and does not visit his player after an injury is not a commited coach

Re: Was Hey Committed to Liberia?
Hey guys what do you consider committed? Was Mr.Hey committed in my view, YES! This guy accepted this job with commitment because you and I know very well that in the beginning there was no team on the ground and no programme in place unlike other countries that already have a team and a programme. He had only three months to work with, and within the three months he was to put a team together and schedule couple of friendlies and a training camp in his home land that the FA and MYS couldn't honour due to typical liberian attitude (last minute to time). I personally think he has done a very good job so far, The lone star has out played every single opponent but she is just not scoring goals because the team is very young and inexperience. He also started to discipline players and the very people whose now talking were the once who were saying he can't do this because they are the best players that we have. What we should be talking is how to retain his services instead of bashing him.Lets not be negetive, and lets not expect too much too soon, rome was not built in a day.

Re: Was Hey Committed to Liberia?
Look Spartan i guess you're not a litle kid to actually understand what being committed is, or what it takes a person to really be committed. But i will asked that you check the word out on the web to first understand what it is before we have that conversation. And in reference to us bashing Mr. Hey or being negative,... we're (iam)not sir. Rether i'm just telling the truth, the facts are the team that has played under his plans has not produce, so he has not produce period. We're in the same space with this same team that a local coach put together two years ago. now, instead of leaving after every single game to his country we are saying stay and atleast try to figure out why we or his team ain't winning! Treat all coaches the same, they messed up.. tell them the truth. Don't pardon Hey cause he is a white coach. When J. Nagba messed up we all said he did and we needed someone to help the team, have a youth program, set up a long term goals that will benefit us in 4-5 years. The MYS and LFA don't know that, but he came without no plans and when right with their short term goals and told the Liberian fans "oh yeah, i can give you a slot at both the WC and ANC" we need full commitment. May God bless the Lone Star.

Re: Was Hey Committed to Liberia?
Let’s give the couch and this young Lone Star team a break. In my opinion both of them have done well. The only game I felt Lone Star missed up was the game against Gambia at home but then again, Gambia has been building their team for the pass 4 years. Liberia has not done anything with youth football in 6 years. The last time Senegal beat us 3 to 0 in Monrovia and 6 to 1 in Dakar. This time around, we had a 2 to 2 tie in Monrovia and a 3 to 1 lost in Dakar. Looking at the Math, Liberia is very much still in these tournaments. We just have to win our last 2 games against Algeria and Gambia and hope that Senegal can play her last 2 games to at least a draw. Looking at the standings, draws may not even be enough for Senegal. She may need to win her games to be on the save side. I’m confident Liberia will be Algeria in Monrovia. My only worry is the Game in Banjul. If all does not go in our favor, we can still use couch Hey to prepare the team for 2012 and youth football. Liberia has the talent. We just need to nurture it.

Re: Was Hey Committed to Liberia?
I blame both Coach Hey and LFA! 1) Coach Hey was counting/depedning on luck for Liberia to qualify because he knew very well that we don't/didn't have any development plans or goals. and 2) LFA expected Hey to perform miracles when they don't even have any structure. When you interview for a job, it's your responsiblity to do your homework/research on the company to make sure that the company has all the necessary structures and resources for you to succeed and do your job. Hey saw $$$ and he figured if I can get about 2 wins and a few draws the Liberian people will get excited and be happy (ex. Sudan friendly). On the other hand, LFA as usual set their sights short term and on 2010 WC. They waited until 2008 before they want to get serious about 2010. To me it's a marriage made in hell and set up for failure from the get go. If you're paying Hey $10K a month, you better have long term goals so he can build/develop a program that will bear fruits in 2012+. Simply put, Hey and LFA are at fault because we have to crawl before we walk. Please stop focusing on 2010 WC and ANC! It's time to focus on 2012 Olympics & ANC and 2014 WC & ANC. We need time to build a team and if Hey doesn't want to be a part of a rebuilding process let him leave. I hear some of you saying that Liberia played well, that's okay, but not good enough. We need to rebuild Lone Star by having feeder youth teams. We keep on wasting and spending money, but ending up with the same results so why don't we try a different approach by spending the money on a 4-5 plan of youth development and programs. Why is this rocket science? Look at Gambia that Hhy help developed. If I'm not mistaken that team has been together since thei youth tournament day. That's how you build a team instead, the LFA withdrew our youth team from some contintental tournament. Whether Hey is committed, uncommitted, Lone Star plays good, etc, etc, we will be back at square one if the LFA doesn't have any youth development plans and long terms goals in place. God Bless Lone Star!

Re: Was Hey Committed to Liberia?
HAHAHAHAHA.... Look Liberian when will guys like you set your country quality high and stop settling for litle stuff. you need to go somewhere else with all those predictions and trying to depend on the results of other teams to give the Lone Star a chance. you always hoping for other team to lose before we go to the WC or ANC, that needs to stop. It's about time we prepare a team with a committed coach that depends on its own results and not others sir. Don't you get it!....??? May God bless the Lone Star
